www.themagdalenproject.org.uk: An environmental charity a few miles southeast of Chard, which aims to promote a deeper understanding of sustainable development and a greater appreciation of our natural and rural heritage. Visitors are always welcome, and can roam freely over 132 acres of organic land. There is a 20 acre organic smallholding, and lots for younger visitors to see and do. There are frequent courses on rural crafts and foods - hedgelaying, cheesemaking, weaving, willow work, straw bale building, green woodworking, hurdle making ... Well worth a visit.
